Steak "alla Fiorentina"

Introduction

This is a famous Tuscan recipe. Although there are plenty of similar meat dishes in other cultures, Steak alla Fiorentina has genuine Italian roots. No matter the origin, it is a delicious recipe, very quick and easy to make.

Steak alla Fiorentina

  • 2 steaks (800-1000gr.)
  • Sea salt, black pepper, olive oil
  • Keep the steaks at room temperature for at least 30 minutes prior to cooking
  • Start the grill or preheat the grill pan
  • Cook steaks for 5 minutes on one side, turn once and cook for 5 more minutes
  • Season steaks with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Slice steaks into serving pieces, place on warmed plates. Sprinkle with olive oil.
Thoughts and Ideas

The authentic steak is a T-bone Argentinian Chianina, but, unfortunately, is impossible to get it in Europe now due to the cattle diseases. Therefore I had to use the regular steak. The thickness of steak should not exceed 3 fingers. The authentic Steak alla Fiorentina is turned only once and served rare, although steak doneness is determined by your personal preferences.
